Sound questionaire results

When researching into sound I found it important to ask a large number of people relevant questions in order to obtain reliable results. I asked 20 people in order to gain a very reliable result.

Question 1
What sound effects do you expect from a drama, romance mystery film?

50% of the people who answered my questionnaire said that they would expect to have Romantic sound effects within the teaser trailer. When creating our sound effects I will try to include romantic sounds in order to set a romantic mood when necessary.

25% of people expected my teaser to have jumpy sound effects throughout. This was a sound effect I would like to include as I feel it will enable my presentation to be unique and fun to watch.

I will definitely be using mysterious sound effects as I 100% of my target audience said that they expect to see this within my genre teaser, I feel that It will set the mood of my teaser extremely well and fit the genre perfectly.

40% of people answered that they would like to see strange sound effects within my teaser, I feel this will help to make my teaser more interest and attract a larger audience.

I will not be including Scary, Funny or any other sound affects to my teaser as my target audience have not requested any other sounds and feel that any others will not fit the teaser very well.




Question 2

What type of music do you expect to hear within a drama, romance mystery teaser?

50% of people said that they would like to hear slow paced music within my teaser trailer, however the other conflicting 50% of people said that they would like to hear fast paced music within my teaser trailer. I have decided to use both fast paced and slow paced music within my teaser. I will be starting off with slow paced music to set the romantic mood of the teaser and then I will fasten the pace up and enhance the mysterious side of the teaser.

100% of people said they would like to hear some romantic and mysterious music within the teaser trailer so I will be adding romantic music at the begging of my teaser and mysterious music throughout to throw my audience off track ensuring they are not able to guess what’s next..

20% of people said they would like to hear jumpy and action type music so I will be trying to mix this type of music into the middle of the teaser to enhance the best clips.

100% of people said they would like my music to be fluent and comfortable to listen to, they all felt that this would help to keep their attention and make them want to see the film.


I will not be including funny, scary, strange, or uncomfortable music as I feel that the audience will not be intrigued by it as no one wanted this.

Question 3

Would you like a drama, romance mystery teaser to explore and challenge other sounds?

80% of people who answered my questionnaire said ‘yes’ and the remaining 30% said ‘No’. I will be ensuring that my teaser challenges many conventions to make it more interest, music will be a very big convention that I challenge.
